Established in memory of renowned London hairdresser Alex Lilly, the Mr Alex Hairdressing Foundation was created to provide assistance to young people who are considering a career in hairdressing.
Alex died from Leukaemia in July 1997 and his family wanted to find a way to commemorate his dedication to the art of hairdressing and his local community, by supporting young people embarking on, or developing a career in this industry.
MoreOur mission is to be ‘our brother’s keeper’ and to provide help, advice, assistance and mentoring programmes to help potential hairdressers become successful. We also offer financial support to less privileged young people to help them to realise their dreams and embark on their careers with the right training, advice and guidance. The assistance of our generous supporters means we can offer a range of training opportunities, placements and support with the purchase of equipment to help make this a reality.
MoreWe help young people to become professional, experienced and gainfully employed individuals – who are able to fully contribute to their own communities.
In honour of Alex Lilly’s memory, it is our intention that anyone, regardless of background or financial position, can become a successful hairdresser – in whichever speciality they choose to pursue.
Lack of funding or being unable to find the right help and guidance should never be an obstacle.
We are entirely dependent on the goodwill of our supporters to make our work a reality.
We welcome individual donations and we also offer a range of interesting fundraising events to support our work.
We are very grateful for the ongoing levels of support that we receive from lots of different hairdressing companies and salons, large and small, who recognise the importance of our work and always go the extra mile to help.
