On Saturday 27th June, the Mr Alex Hairdressing Foundation hosted a beautiful Summer Caribbean Brunch Party at St Boniface in Tooting, London, bringing together a heartfelt gathering of 65 guests. In attendance were family members, past colleagues, clients, friends of Alex Lilly, and other invited guests — all united in celebrating his life, legacy, and the continued mission of the Foundation.
The afternoon began with a lively Rum Punch Reception, setting the perfect tone for the event. Guests were warmly welcomed and serenaded by Saxman Justyn, whose smooth and uplifting performance created a relaxed, joyful atmosphere as everyone arrived and mingled.
This was followed by opening remarks from Jackie Lilly, reflecting on the purpose of the Foundation and the importance of community in keeping Alex’s legacy alive. An engaging ice-breaker session, led by Watty Jnr, our host and DJ for the afternoon, brought laughter, connection, and a wonderful sense of togetherness to the room.
The Brunch Party was more than just a social gathering — it was a moment to honour Alex’s impact, reconnect with those who knew him, and reaffirm the Foundation’s commitment to supporting students in the Hair and Beauty industry. Seeing so many people come together in support of this mission was both humbling and inspiring.

We are currently awaiting the return of the College from their Summer break to be able to provide assistance to students for the upcoming year 2026 - 2027.

I had the pleasure of attending the Hammersmith & West London College Hairdressing Showcase and Presentation, an inspiring annual event that brought together creativity, skill, and the bright future of our industry. The atmosphere was electric, with 92 students each presenting one model for their showcase — a vibrant display of imagination, dedication, and emerging talent.
The runway was buzzing with excitement. Students brought an impressive range of themes to life, from VE Day tributes to Hollywood Glam, and even playful Sweet Treats creations. Each look told its own story, and every student demonstrated the passion and potential that will carry them forward in their careers.
This year’s event featured judges and guest speakers from across the Hair and Beauty industry, making it a valuable and inspiring experience for all who attended. I was deeply honoured to be invited not only as a guest, but also as a judge for the competition, representing the Mr Alex Hairdressing Foundation.
During the presentation, I shared a short address with the students, giving them insight into the background of the Foundation and why it was created. The Foundation was established in memory of the late Alex Lilly, a passionate and accomplished hairdresser who believed deeply in education, opportunity, and supporting the next generation. His legacy continues through our work — providing essential tools, kits, and resources to students who may otherwise struggle to afford what they need to complete their training.
I also spoke about something very important to us: student involvement. This Foundation was built for young people entering the Hair and Beauty industry, and we want it to grow with their ideas, creativity, and energy. I encouraged the students to volunteer with us — whether through social media, photography, videography, event support, or simply bringing fresh perspectives. Their voices matter, and their contributions help us reach and support even more learners.
One of the greatest honours of the evening was presenting the Student of the Year 2026 trophy on behalf of the Foundation, and in memory of Alex Lilly. It was my privilege to award this year’s title to Fahima Eshmaeili, whose talent, dedication, and passion truly shone throughout the academic year and the competition. A well-deserved achievement.
The entire event was a powerful reminder of why the Foundation exists: to uplift, empower, and celebrate the next generation of hair professionals. I left feeling inspired, proud, and excited for what these students will go on to achieve.
To the students — if you would like to get involved with the Foundation, we welcome you with open arms. Together, we can continue building opportunities, supporting talent, and honouring Alex’s legacy in the most meaningful way.
